FAQs
Do I need a loading phase?
No. Taking your daily serving consistently gradually tops up the creatine stored in your muscles over around three to four weeks. A loading phase (around 20 g a day for a week) gets there faster, but it isn't needed, and larger single doses are more likely to upset your stomach.
Should I take it before or after training?
Whenever suits you best. Studies comparing creatine taken just before or just after training have found similar results, and expert reviews conclude that taking it consistently every day matters more than the exact timing. On rest days, take your serving at any convenient time. Many people find it easiest to have it with a meal.
I missed a day. Should I double up?
No need to double up. Creatine works by gradually topping up the creatine stored in your muscles, and those stores fall slowly. Studies show they take around four to six weeks to return to normal after stopping completely, so one missed day makes very little difference. Just take your usual serving the next day and carry on. Do not exceed the recommended daily serving.
Will creatine make me bloated or gain weight?
Some people notice a small rise in weight in the first week or so, mostly water held in the muscles. It's seen mainly with high-dose “loading” of around 20 g a day. Studies using lower daily amounts over several weeks have generally not found meaningful changes in body water, and research has not found that creatine increases body fat. Large single doses (10 g or more) are more likely to upset the stomach; our recommended daily serving is well below that.
Can I take creatine with coffee?
Yes, most people can. One small 1996 study suggested very high caffeine intakes might blunt creatine during a high-dose loading phase. Later studies using coffee or caffeine have not consistently found this, and a recent expert review concluded the two are unlikely to work against each other at normal intakes. A few people report mild stomach discomfort taking them together. If that's you, take them at different times of day.
Is creatine suitable for women?
Yes. Creatine has been studied in both men and women, and the same daily serving applies. Take it every day, including rest days; there is no need to time it to your cycle. If you're pregnant or breastfeeding, speak to your GP before use.
Does creatine cause hair loss?
This worry comes from a single 2009 study of 20 rugby players taking high doses, which found a rise in DHT, a hormone linked to male-pattern hair loss. That study didn't measure hair. A 2025 randomised controlled trial in men taking 5 g a day for 12 weeks found no difference in DHT, hair density or hair thickness compared with a placebo. Research has not found that creatine causes hair loss, though studies are limited. If you're concerned about hair loss, speak to your GP.
Does creatine harm your kidneys?
Studies in healthy adults taking recommended amounts have not found that creatine harms kidney function. Creatine can raise creatinine, the marker used in routine blood tests to estimate kidney function, so results can appear lower than they really are. If you're having a kidney blood test, tell your doctor you take creatine. If you have a kidney condition, diabetes or high blood pressure, take medication, are pregnant or breastfeeding, or are under 18, speak to your GP before use.

Quite nice, stodgy, although high carb content vs protein
Frankly, I don't think this is a low carb snack - not when you consider the carb to protein ratio. Is it low carbs? Well, 20g of carbohydrates in a snack is low carbs, but for me, I want high protein and much lower carb content. That aside, I like the taste and texture as I love stodgy treats, they make me feel like I'm eating something worthwhile. I'm not even a fan of salted caramel but the flavour of these bars is great.3g of Creatine and 20g of protein is a decent intake from a fitness bar so that's a plus. Also let's not forget the added dietary fibre as many people aren't getting enough of that in their diets.

Easy eating during sports but questionable protein quality.
These are fairly large bars at 75g each and pretty good value at around £20 for 12 bars. The macros are pretty good with acceptable salt and sugar, good fibre and high protein. The fat in this flavour is lower than the peanut flavour and quite low. They contain 3g of creatine so if you usually take 5g you will need to take some more. The bars are firm and quite dry. They take a bit of chewing and taste nice but don't have a huge amount of flavour. This makes them good for eating during sports are they are easy to keep down and not sickly. My only issue with these is that it isn't clear where the bulk of the protein is coming from. It says protein blend which includes milk protein but it isn't clear how much is high and complete protein sources. It may be that it's mostly good quality protein but I can't tell from the ingredients list.Overall a decent protein bar.

Too sweet and not for me
This review is for Warrior Creatine + Protein Bars – Low Carb Snack, Oat Based Flapjack Bar, Increase Physical Performance, 12 x 75g (Chocolate Peanut). This bar looks pretty standard to other bars and, in my opinion it is jumping on the protein and creatine bandwagon, which I don't blame them for. Still, it is poor quality, excessive protein could contribute to renal failure, and it is also far too sweet. The ingredients include toasted OATS (contains Honey, Malt Extract, Sugar, there is then white chocolate and then sugar. How can this be low carb? Then there is nearly 30g of alcohol sugars or polyols, so beware of the effects of these too.The hubbie likes them but I would rather have some peanuts.

good
This product comes inside a cardboard box; once opened, you'll see 12x protein bars; after reviewing this product, it is priced at £19.99 - or about £1.66 per bar; I think this is of value. There is a lot of protein in each bar - 20 grams of protein and 3 grams of creatine; this will be good for people looking for something to snack on before or after going to the gym. It has a good texture and consistency. It is a little dry but still delicious. The product is not vegetarian/vegan.I would recommend this product.

Generously sized snack bar for energy boost
I ordered these chocolate peanut flavoured high protein/low sugar bars for my husband who has type 2 diabetes. He has a physical job, works long hours and these are ideal for him to have in his car for a quick, energy boosting snack in between meals. He said although they’re not particularly tasty and a little dry, they do satisfy his appetite and more importantly, they don’t affect his blood sugar level. There are other flavour options available which he’ll probably try, as these generously sized bars are reasonably priced at £1.67 each.

Powdery texture, but great taste
I tried the salted caramel brownie flavour bars and really enjoyed the flavour, which is incredibly moreish. I didn’t enjoy the texture however, which is very powdery and made it impossible for me to finish the bar. I wouldn’t get these again unless the bar could be improved to get rid of that powdery texture, even though the flavour is great.

Not bad for protein bars
I love the Warrior chocolate protein bars and buy them at least every 2 months so I was looking forward to trying these. I'm a big fan of oat-based foods as oats are very healthy and contain a great balance of carbs, protein and fibre. What was the most exciting for me was the inclusion of Creatine. These bars provide you with a great energy boost, protein and fibre which make these great for active people. For those expecting moist, oaty and crumbly flapjacks, you’re likely to be disappointed, due to the ingredients the protein bars tend to have a particular texture which takes some getting used to. It's not unpleasant, it's just different. They are quite sweet, though, and I find a whole bar a bit sickly. There is a slight artificial aftertaste as well.Overall, they are ok, not my fave bars but good snacks before or after the gym.

Yummy and not very expensive. They make for a nice snack where I don't feel so naughty.

King of protein bars!
These are probably the best protein bars I ever had. I am a big orange chocolate lover and the orange taste is bang on! Low sugar and still a great taste and texture. Having creatine in aswell makes it all the better. Will be trying more of their range soon!

Not for me.
I didn’t appreciate the texture or mouthfeel. The taste wasn’t what I was expecting and I wouldn’t repurchase.

Great tasting , good value
Great bars. Good value , taste is good great for a snack during the day
Flavour: CHOCOLATE ORANGE · Size: 1 count (Pack of 1)
Good
Good protein bar, very dense bar but high in protein and good amount of creatine. Furthermore, even thigh taste is not anything amazing it still taste a lot better than a lot of other high protein bars.
Flavour: Salted Caramel · Size: 1 count (Pack of 1)
Not the best, very dry.
Not great, gets stuck in your throat even with a medium bite as they are very dry. Texture is also dry and sticking and ingredients could be questioned. Won't be purchasing again.

Good
Only had the one bar so far but it tastes good. Wouldn’t exactly say it was peanut butter flavoured if I was to do a blind test on it. Unfortunately the box had come completely destroyed and some of the bats snapped but I’m guessing it had been chucked around in the back of then van.A good size bar with an overall nice taste with a good amount of protein and creatine.

Good substitute for a meal in a pinch.
Quite a big bars which contributes to the feeling of fullness a little bit which again I see as a positive. I don't like the smaller ones that make me even hungrier. A little bit dry and chewy so need to be flushed with some liquid but overall a good substitute for a meal in a pinch. Not excessively priced like some other brands.
Flavour: CHOCOLATE ORANGE · Size: 1 count (Pack of 1)
Very nice but expensive
I love these, a little softer and more enjoyable than than the others without creatine but far more expensive, so I will stick to the others and add creatine to my intake by powder.

Good value, decent quality protein bar
I have been eating a variety of Warrior RAW protein bars for some time nw and find that they have a pleasant taste, a nice texture and are a quality item when compared to some competitors. I find them very filling, particularly if followed by a drink and are the ideal size to carry and also to reduce my appetite after training.Purchasing online, I find that they are good value for money and provide me with an energy replacement/boost after a workout or simply as a snack.

High priced unless on sale but worth it
Not the most flavoursome but edible and good protein and creatine count
Flavour: CHOCOLATE ORANGE · Size: 1 count (Pack of 1)
One of the best protein bars :
Creatine, protein, oats, fibers and minerals ALL in one in just 75 grams at a very good price. Mixed flavors chocolate plus orange gives a good taste but is to dry not at all a little bit juicy. A perfect choice after workout for recovery and muscles build due the amount of creatine and protein together in one spat
